About UsSouthside Sports Center is a 14,000 sq.ft. gymnasium with a college standard sports court. We welcome and offer the community a much needed location for sporting activities as well as a way to accommodate the expanding youth ministry Kauai Christian Fellowship (KCF), the founding, parent organization. KCF is a nondenominational Christian church that puts a high emphasis on caring for the youth, bringing the community together, and enjoying life. Goals and Objectives: · To provide a much-needed sporting complex on the Southside – The gym has plenty of space and flexibility for various ages and sport groups...even at the same time. The only other southside gym facility is in Kalaheo. There is nothing under roof for Koloa, Omao or Poipu. · To provide additional space for our expanding youth ministry – The rooms provided within the gym complex allow for us to better serve the youth in at risk environments and teens for ministry purposes as well as having a location for sports. We strive to teach godly character, respect, as well as fundamentals of sport, making a well rounded athletes and teammates. · To provide a FEMA approved hurricane shelter for the community of Popiu and Koloa – Using strict FEMA standards our architect has designed one end of the building to withstand winds of up to 180 miles per hour. As we currently do with Tsunami warnings, we would open campus to locals and visitors during emergencies. Our philosophy is simple. We strive to reach our full potential in every area of our lives. Our tenets are modesty, courtesy, integrity, perseverance and self-control. These are the developments in character that we strive for and we believe in leading by example! |
Mission
"Not Just a Game"
|
It is a joy for us at Southside Sports Center to share the love of God through the common bond of sports. Perhaps you noticed the statement "not just a game". We love sports, but we certainly love God...who blessed us with the ability to enjoy life ...and sports, fitness, and health are an important part of life. In fact the Bible says, "Bodily exercise is all right, but spiritual exercise is much more important and is a tonic for all you do. So exercise yourself spiritually, and practice being a better Christian because that will help you not only now in this life, but in the next life too." (1 Timothy 4:8) So our goal is to offer avenues for you to participate in sports while building friendships and connecting with the church or better yet... a relationship with God. We don't intend to preach at you while you slam dunk on a buddy. In fact the environment will give you a non-threatening atmosphere to invite friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members while seizing opportunity to enjoy the game.
